Manta Sagrada Ruffle Skirt

The Manta Sagrada Ruffle Skirt is part of our charity collection with Menin Yaby – a low-rise, hand-painted mini skirt featuring traditional kené patterns. Each skirt is one of a kind, carrying the unique touch of the artisan who created it. 100% of proceeds go directly to the women behind the work, supporting their craft, community, and culture.

The name comes from la manta sagrada, or in Shipibo: Akonki Koirati Chopa. During the tiempos del caucho (the rubber boom of the late 19th and early 20th century), these embroidered textiles weren’t just garments – they were used as currency, exchanged for goods when colonial systems exploited and excluded Indigenous people from formal economies.
